Back in February I was unfortunately raped by someone I considered a close friend while I was highly intoxicated. I went to my local hospital and got a kit done, then about a week later I reported it as well as a few witnesses who were around noticing strange behavior from him towards me before the assault happened.
Unfortunately I was told by the detective that my case can take anywhere from 9 months to 12 months before anything really proceeds due to the kit, the issue is My rapist fled to another state so I’m worried that by the time everything begins to start they won’t be able to find him.
What happens from here? I’m not familiar with any court or legal matters especially pertaining this kind of situation. I did make the detective who picked up my case aware of him fleeing the state but I need any advice on what i should do or what will happen in the proceeding months; if I’d need to get a
Lawyer now or wait etc.
