Location: Oklahoma
I live in public housing in Oklahoma City. My name is on the lease. On Sunday, August 30th 2026, approximately 3am, I heard noise downstairs (I live in a 2 story home, my bedroom is at the top of the stairs), and found 3 men who I found out to be OCHA security guards.
They did not knock (I know this as I was awake and reading quietly with my door open), they got access to the master key and unlocked my locked front door and entered my home. They began yelling, I’m unsure what they were saying but they did not announcing Housing! like they would be required to do. I saw lights from their flashlights hitting the wall by my bedroom door.
I was undressed (naked) and quickly got dressed, shaking uncontrollably because I was terrified someone had broke in. When I came face to face with the 3 men, they immediately asked me “Who do you have here with you?” I stated who was with me and had to press the 3 men as to why they entered my home unannounced at 3am.
They finally told me that they got a call that there was “banging” and that was it. They harassed me and a male partner, mocking him and telling me if I don’t throw him out they will evict me. So I told him to get dressed and leave. He was not trespassing nor was he banned.
They admitted to me that they entered without a warrant, spoke about prior incidents at my home where my partner had argued (no physical altercation and arrests) and knowing there was no emergency and mocked my male partner, accusing him of things he hadn’t done as he was leaving and also tried to search him but he quickly walked away.
As they were finally leaving, they were telling me that they’re going to come back and see who I have at my home whenever they want and they don’t have to have a warrant to search my home. I have been a nervous wreck and I am terrified.
Three men entering a woman’s home in the middle of the night and demanding to know who I had present and making the male guest leave so I was alone gives me a feeling they may be wanting to physically or sexually harm me. Is this legal whatsoever? I can’t sleep and I’m constantly afraid to be home and keep having horrible panic attacks. I just want to feel safe in my home.
EDIT: I intend to contact my local legal aid tomorrow and see what avenues I can take to rectify this. I have scheduled counseling and an appointment with my doctor to see if she can help me with the severe anxiety and inability to sleep. Unfortunately I currently don’t have insurance and would have to pay out of pocket.
I’m hoping I can get this changed and any medical bills paid if possible. From what I understand my 4th amendment right was violated and in such a way that it can be taken to court. Not only for my safety, but others and also the guards. A trigger happy resident could have ended their lives.
