My friend just found out that someone who assaulted her a couple years ago is interviewing for the same grad school program she’s currently enrolled in - If they are accepted they would be expected to work closely together in research.
However, the assault didn’t occur on campus or while she was a current grad student. Does she have any recourse? Is it an option to file a police report but not pursue a case? My friend is torn between not wanting this person in the program with her, not wanting to ruin his career, and not wanting to continue the saga of something that she is trying to actively move past.
