Hello all,
I’ve been in Budapest for 5 days it was all good, but the third day when we came back to our apartment we discovered someone had entered and stolen our things (more than 2000€ in different objects like 2 laptops, cash, clothes…).
The police said that is a very common crime and that they see this almost every day, what happens is that thieves check where are touristic apartments with key box in the door, so they somehow still the key and copy, then they just wait till someone rents the apartment.
Our problem is that booking said that is not their problem, that the company owner of the apartment has to take care. The company (in this case is a company not a person) is telling as that our travel insurance has to compensate as, well that was the first thing they said, now they say I’m going to write it literally “Although I'm very sorry about what happened, the one who can compensate you is the burglar. It is the responsibility of the police to investigate the circumstances of the break-in and hold those responsible accountable.” I find this insulting.
If anyone can help as to at least get any kind of compensation we would be really grateful.
