Reported my Boss for Tip Theft

I reported my boss, (I work in a flower shop in Oklahoma). For tip theft.

Location: Flower Shop in Oklahoma

She has stolen thousands of dollars from her employees in credit card tips…

The employees process the tips, as anyone who takes credit cards- we see the money be accounted for… but we never get “tipped out” at the end of our shifts and there isn’t a section on our pay stubs that say “team tip.”

When we asked her where the tips go- or why we, as employees, don’t receive them, she replied with “your tips help cover the business cost and wasted product. Once you start working hard enough, and I’m satisfied with your production- then sure, I’ll tip you. But until then… nope.”

So after work, I called my Oklahoma State Wage and Labor Department and opened an investigation and report on her and her business 🙃.

Due to the severity of the situation- the report asked for my name. Since I have an interview lined up with another job, I obliged.

What kind of retaliation should I expect from my current employer? Where could this lead? Did I just open a can of worms that is going to haunt everyone else?

Back story:

Normally, I would have kept my mouth shut and my nose in my own business… but the delivery driver (employee for over 2 years) came to me and Told me she is making “12.50 an hour… and that’s with a raise she just got… she was making 11 an hour.”

But since she got her $1.5 raise… our boss has cut her hours- shorter and shorter… so it’s not like she’s even making more money…

Everyone else at the Shop makes $15 (and I just started 4 months ago)..

Our delivery driver is an older woman, and she doesn’t know how to report the situation herself. So I advocated for her- and the rest of us.
