My wife rented a vehicle from one of the major rental companies for our vacation. The employee asked her if she would like a free upgrade. She of course said yes. The vehicle was rented on Saturday. Monday she was contacted via text by an employee from the location asking her to contact him. She called the employee and he informed her that the previous renter "thinks she left a handgun in the vehicle". Upon inspection by my wife and I, the handgun was in the vehicle. He requested that she return the vehicle Tuesday. We are 6 hours away on vacation. I am at a loss as what to do legally. I do not feel comfortable driving the vehicle with a concealed firearm that is not registered to me or my wife. Neither of us have touched the firearm or moved it from where it was found (inside the center console in a latched compartment) I can't get it off my mind and am unable to sleep. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
