Unfortunately for me, I had a former friend turn stalker. This was a few years ago, and I thought I had left it behind.
Short story, they kept asking me for nude photos, which I did not give. They would not leave me alone, and they took to impersonating me online. Creating social media pages pretending to be me. They took it a step further and found a similar looking lady, that had a porn video, and then reuploaded to multiple porn sites using my legal name.
It is not me, but if you don’t know me well, or at all, you might think it is me. Unfortunately for me, I have a unique name, which when you search for me online, you’ll find both my social media and these porn videos at the top of the results.
Is there a way to ask these major porn sites to remove my name or the video? I had attempted to do so years ago, but had very little luck and no money.
I had taken the route to bury those results by pushing my own links to the top of the results. I don’t have as much time in my hands now. Because I’m a working professional, I’d prefer to not risk a curious person to find them and think it is me.
Should I just change my name? Is it worth it to even fight this? I’m considering changing the timeline of getting married to my partner just to not deal with this. I’m also fairly new to my position at work, in a new company. It’s not client facing, but my work impacts managers and above. I don’t want this having over my head.
