My mom got taken by ICE on her way to work (Location: Northern NJ) within walking distance around an hour ago. I have a consultation with a lawyer at 9:30am. I’m aware she’ll be given an A-# soon so I’m waiting for that and her contact information.
Is there anything important that I should know? She has no prior criminal experience and came to the United States from Colombia with a visa in \~2003. We’ve had a quiet and relaxing life. I’m currently 19 (20 in Oct) and was waiting to help petition for her citizenship.
Again, is there anything I should know? Is there anything specific to mention to the lawyer? Someone my father knows that was previously detained and let go by ICE told us to mention “habeas corpus”.
thank you
