When I was 4 my mom died in a car accident and my family sued the insurance company- they got a settlement of $33,000.
This settlement was split between my two sisters and I -so $11,000 each. This money was put into individual trust accounts for each of us.
My mother’s father (so my grandfather) was assigned custodian of each fund- us siblings weren’t given access until we turn 21.
I am the youngest of the 3 siblings and I turned 21 two days ago. I called my grandfather to ask him how I get my trust money out of the bank, and he told me that he drained my entire account… The entire trust fund is gone
He did this after I had already turned 18 and moved out of the state while I was in college!! so I called the bank and asked them for all the records to my account and they told me they won’t give me any information without a court subpoena. All they would tell me is that there is only $40 left in that account it’s tied to my Social Security number.
My question is where do I go from here??? I’m in an entirely different state so I’m not even sure how to go about this I’m so young and I don’t have any type of experience with this stuff.
