Me and my girlfriend live in an apartment complex. She moved here by herself a year ago and signed all of the paperwork. I moved in six months later. I disclosed this to management, back then and I was told "We usually add you on as a roommate which would require you to fill out an application, although it would be easier to just wait and do that when she renews the lease."
Its been 6 months, and in this time, management has changed hands twice. The new company, Greystar, is much more strict and fired all of the previous staff. Starting a few weeks ago they began going into the mailroom and taking all packages that have names not explicitly listed on leases. They are locked somewhere in the leasing office.
Last week, I noticed an order of mine was missing from the mailroom. I went to the leasing office thinking another resident took it. Thats when I found out they now consider me some sort of fugitive. I was able to get my package back then while being directed to fill out an application (which includes a credit pull.) The thing is me and my girlfriend have already found another placed to live and signed a new lease. We only have one month left here.
Today, I noticed they removed 4 of my packages, two of which were expensive birthday gifts. I am just curious if this is even legal for them to do.
