So earlier today around 12:15pm my small dog was bitten by a much larger dog. I’m at a family members house and in their city people do not have to leash their dogs, but they have to have control of their dogs. Well I was outside in my brothers yard with my dog. Well his neighbor let their big dog outside without a leash and it went straight for my small dog. The dog was being aggressive. When the dog bit my dog I started yelling at the owner to come get their dog. I will admit I was yelling and cussing and called them an idiot. My poor small dog was screaming his head off and howling in pain. Honestly I panicked. I was also mad that the person did not have control of their dog. Thankfully my dog is okay. But I did call law enforcement just to have it documented. I did not expect them to do anything, I just wanted it legally documented. I took my dog to the vet and paid $240 for the examine and the medications. I calmly spoke with the neighbor and she said since I called her an idiot and called law enforcement she will not help with the vet fees and said to take her to court. Is it worth taking someone to court for this? If so how much should I request?
Im a single mom with limited income, paying that vet fees did hurt my finances but I’ll be okay.
