In 2023-2024 a court case was opened against my stepfather after a mandated reporter reported I was being sexually and physically abused. The original case was criminal, but I chose to drop it after many surrounding circumstances, including lack of physical evidence. I was 16 and delirious from trauma and the process of a rape kit was not explained to me, so I refused.
Another girl was abused by the same man and has opened a lawsuit against him for serial child molestation. It’s a civil case, I assume her intent to get money from him and my mother (who is considered an accomplice in the situation).
I was wondering if it’s possible for her case to turn criminal if they brought up court transcripts from my case even if it’s closed? Can a closed case be used as evidence in a civil lawsuit? The things done to me would be worthy of multiple felonies. I’m not sure if I’m phrasing this right so I’m sorry if this is confusing.
