While getting new truck tires, I decided to get the rims refurbished. Walmart Tire Center management was originally okay (written from a tech) with the truck sitting in the lot for two weeks, until they weren't due to "safety", despite being on appropriate jack stands. I return a few days later, the truck towed by a company with no PUCO, no DOT numbers. No effort to contact me despite having my info. I have not been contacted by police, so I assume no report had been made. Walmart is a tow away zone, but their contract with whom we will call Roadies Wrecking (PUCO & DOT certified) expired, according to them. I approach Roadies for advice and they confirm that towing company is shady, Walmart has done this six times, and referred me to a lawyer whose cousin works at Roadies. Truck is sitting at a seedy scrap yard; they asked for no identification, no proof of ownership, not even my name when I approached them. I gave them all my info but they didn't care. Manager at Walmart said they may return the truck at their expense if I show them the order number. This is causing issues with my employment.
What now, should I let Walmart fetch the truck, or should I not say anything at all until a lawyer is on retainer? How could that affect my case, if I have one at all? I would like to seek punitive damages, is that feasible?
