This is going to be embarrassing, but I received a subpoena from the wife’s attorney requesting all communications including texts, emails, social media messages, and photos of the defendant.. they also stated that I must appear for a deposition.
Location: Georgia. For context, I am a stripper.. I met the defendant in the club last year. We had a sugar baby type of relationship for about 7 months. This ended when I found out that he had impregnated my close friend and coworker.. (hence why his wife is divorcing him) since then I have not spoken to the defendant in months.. during our relationship he gave me money while i was working in club and outside of the club.. he also gifted me an expensive gift. many of the transactions were through Venmo, Zelle, wires.. he even wrote paper checks.. (I’m assuming this is how they found my legal identity) He owns a company and while I’m not 100% sure, some of these transactions may of came out of the company account.
My question is, do they have a right to see my bank statements? Do I need to consult an attorney for legal representation about this? I’m worried about saying anything that could incriminate myself. I also do not have any of the information they’ve requested, any texts or photos have been long gone.
Any advice would be appreciated.
