Grandparent visitation

Location: New York

My MIL (mother in-law) is going to be serving my wife & I for grandparent visitation rights. She hasn’t seen our kids in person since December. The reason for the distance is she is a habitual drug addict. She is currently on crack and also abusing pills. My wife & I don’t feel she should be in their lives under these conditions. If she were willing to go to rehab and get clean, it wouldn’t have to come to a legal battle.

I’ve consulted a family lawyer and they said worst case scenario she will either have 1 supervised visit a month or won’t ever see the kids again.

Just looking for some advice and input to help ease our minds. My wife is all torn up about it and has basically lost her Mom.

Thank you.
