I’ve finally hit my breaking point and I’ve decided I want to divorce my husband. I will be starting the process “in secret” and he will be finding out once he gets served.
My husband makes 2-3x what I do, yet I’m the one using pretty much all of my paycheck to cover basic living expenses (internet, utilities, car insurance for him and me, all the groceries, daycare costs, etc). He has been increasingly emotionally abusive towards me since we got married a year ago. We’ve been together for almost 8 years and have an almost 4 y.o.
I’ve been advised that I should ask for child support, primary custody, 50% of our home and other assets, and a small payout (since I’ve been covering all daily expenses and have little saved).
What are some details I should be including in the divorce settlement and custody agreement that can make a huge difference?
