Hey everyone, I bought a car through Carvana two months ago (I know, I know). They had the car I wanted at a decent price, so I rolled the dice, and it has not gone well.
The car had a few issues, and they agreed to fix them, so it was at a body shop for 4 weeks, and now it’s at the dealership for another week. So the dealer called me and told me that the repair was going to cost $4,500, great. So Carvana’s warranty company is working on approving that repair, but this is where it gets crazy.
I get a phone call from Carvana, and they are now demanding $ 3,000 from me because they made a mistake on the paperwork. After pressing them, they claim that when they processed my trade in, they accidentally typed my VIN number in wrong and the payoff was 3K less than it should be. Now they can’t get my title released from my trade in. After all of the issues with the car and then this, I was livid.
After taking it to a manager, they agreed that this is crazy and offered a check for $850. I’m not sure what to do next. They said they are looking into it, but I will be on the hook for the whole 3K. So my questions are: is this legal? If they, let’s say, deny the mechanical repair, I could be out for 7,000 dollars for a car I just bought. And the kicker is it’s been in the shop half of the time I owned it.
