Long story short, I got into a parking lot altercation at my apartment building with another tenant's boyfriend (a stranger to me) who had stolen our assigned space. I parked behind him, and he flipped out, pounding on people's doors and screaming, trying to find out whose car it was. When he found out it was mine, he started screaming in my face, and I was afraid he was going to hit me. Because he was blocking my way, and threatening to fight my boyfriend, I pushed him out of the way with one hand (he wasn't hurt at all) to get him to move. He citizen's arrested me for a harassment violation (the police officer he called declined to arrest me for assault, which was what he wanted), saying I hit him. I went to court yesterday and the case was dismissed outright.
I'm wondering what people do in situations like mine. Do they sue the person who citizen's arrested them? I'm tempted to just let it go so I never have to see him again, but I also don't want him to do this to anyone else. I have no criminal past and have never sued anyone, so I don't know how any of this works.
