I was in a car wreck on January 24th. Teenager ran his red light and t boned me on the passenger side going 50. I felt fine just sore. Wife really kept telling me I should go to the hospital so I went and got checked out. No X-ray or anything. Fast forward to. April 24th, I’m finally doing some spring yard work and planting our garden. I’m on my knees planting tomatoes and my back literally locks up. I can’t get up and it just feels like a Charlie horse that won’t go away. Wife comes and helps me up and pain kinda goes away. Go to sit down and it happens again. I pace around the kitchen for two hours before I go and lay down in bed and I can’t get the pain to stop while I’m laying there. I decide to go to the ER and they don’t do much. For the last month I have been to the chiropractor 7 times, and just last week had an MRI. I have fully herniated disc at l4/l5 that’s smashing the nerve. Whether I’m siting or standing it’s just burning pains down my leg and back. Doctor wants me to get injections next week, and if it doesn’t help, surgery.
The other drivers insurance (Progressive) obviously claimed fault and I never signed any documents other than a medical release form for them to get info from doctors. The lady seems nice right now, but who knows.
I am just wondering if they are going to fight me or if I should be okay. I’ve never had any back issues or pain until this happened. I work an active job constantly crawling in crawl spaces, in attics, and I can’t do any of it now. I feel like I’ve aged 50 years.
Wasn’t really active in the winter and that’s why I’m thinking I didn’t notice I was messed up until I did a big spring cleaning on the yard.
