About 3 weeks ago my 75 year old mother went into the hospital for health reasons. She was there for a week. Upon her release they wanted her to got a physical rehab facility because she’s been in bed mostly and needed to work on her leg strength. Neither of I’d wanted her to go, but her sister talked her into it.
She’s been there 2 weeks and it’s horrible. The staff is rude and doesn’t help. They leave her in a wheelchair in the hall for over 5 hours. They yell at her and other patients. The PT is a joke. They do it for one hour and then either back in bed for 10 hours for 5 hours in a chair and 5 in the bed. They don’t even help her get up to the bathroom. Just make her go in a diaper and then leave her sitting in waste until they come in.
I think having her back home with me, I live with her to help, would be better. She wouldn’t be lying around all day. She walk with her walker from the bedroom to the kitchen to the living room etc. She’d be moving
a lot more.
She called today and said she was done and wanted to come home but they told her she can’t leave unless doctors and nurses and a bunch of people signed off. They can’t do that right? Isn’t that holding her against her will. I know if you’re in a hospital you can refuse to be treated and leave. Isn’t this the same? Any help would be great.
