Location: Illinois I'm new to this outbound sales job, and it's been a rough start. The posting clearly said 'no cold calling,' but 95% of what we do is exactly that—cold calls all day via an automated dialer. On Friday, I spent the whole shift calling people clearly marked as 'DNC' (Do Not Call) in their profiles. I even started screenshotting them because it was happening constantly almost every call the dialer does . On Thursday A woman went through the whole quote process with me, but I couldn't even email her the quote because she had opted out of emails, calls, AND mail. Yet the dialer still called her. The call didn't go well (she was understandably upset), and it's been weighing on me heavily. I'm really bothered that the system is set up this way. It feels unethical and puts reps like me in a tough spot. The job is already mentally draining with angry people on the line (which I get—they're getting unwanted calls), and this just makes it worse. Its clear i didnt fit in from day one, it's clear the culture assumes everyone’s okay with whatever it takes to make sales. I'm not. My mental health is taking a hit, and I don't feel right continuing like this. What are my options here illegally?
