Called a thief

Myself and a family member went to a local store this afternoon to purchase some items. We spent about an hour there and about a quarter of the way thru our visit the employee asks us if we misplaced some items we were looking at. We said no and then we're told to ask before taking things. We continue to shop and have questions about size and how to check that, and she says please bring the item up front so she can open the box for us, we do that, and I decide to purchase this item as well. We end up spending over $80, I stay to check out and my family member goes outside to check on a younger family member. The employee asks me if I wanted a receipt sent to my email or text I declined. She then said there were reward points for the purchase that can be combined for a discount or something.. She she apologizes for asking a question if we talk something or misplaced it but says that she had to do it because she didn't know where it is and have a good day and she hopes we come back. I get home and look on Facebook and the store Facebook page has a post about us stesling, saying that we have until 10pm to return the items to the store or she will be pressing chsrges/going to law enforcement.

Now this is all fine with me, because we didn't steal. We won't be on camera taking anything either.

So my question is, do we need to worry about getting arrested for a crime we didn't commit (we have a infant child together) and what is our recourse against her and her company for talking about us online and to the police ?
