Auto Fraud - Consumer Protection

Location: California. In 2019, I purchased a 2016 certified pre-owned Honda CRV from the local Honda dealership. I still have the clean carfax and certification inspection completed by the dealer. Fast forward to now, still driving my 2019 CRV and I’m in a small fender bender in a parking lot. While driving, a car backed out of their spot and hit the front bumper. Damage wasn’t back. Looked like a new bumper and new fog light. Thought it would be minimal and easy to repair. Once at the body shop however, the body shop found evidence of a prior accident. Things like: front impact bar damage, missing brackets under the headlight, upper support bar is missing hardware, and significant rust on the impact bar. To my knowledge, this car has never been in a front end collision. I’ve had it since 2019 with no accidents and purchased it certified with a clean carfax. Right? Nope. The insurance company ran the VIN through their database and they have evidence of a front end collision that occurred in 2018, prior to me purchasing the vehicle in 2019, and is now refusing to repair what they deem preexisting damage that was never properly repair. Body shop is saying car is unsafe to drive and never should have been sold in 2019. Do I have a claim here against the dealership? Or Honda? If so, what am I doing and what do I ask for? Should I get an attorney?
