Location: New Jersey
Context: My wife has abandoned the home \~4 months ago, leaving behind our two young children and has dropped all contact with everyone in her immediate family. Police have made contact and determined she is fine.
She left in a car that I fully own, and I am the only name on the title and registration. It was purchased during the marriage as a backup vehicle, intended for very small mileage.
Since she left, she has been involved in at least one collision, got a speeding camera violation, etc. in distant states. I have also filed for divorce but have not been able to locate her or serve her thus far.
So, I'm just curious of opinions: are there any risks to if I report the vehicle as missing/stolen? (all while being transparent that my wife was the last known operator but I don't know her whereabouts)
From the sound of it, the police might not even give me the time of day.
