I’m a mandated reporter, this is the important part. I don’t know if this is really LEGAL advice, but it’s definitely bordering on moral and ethical.
Last night it was brought up in a passing conversation that ‘something’ happened to my nephew that has now caused him to be closed off and not want people to be near him, touch him, or see him in anything less than FULLY clothed. This is something I drill into my nieces and nephews, but this is new.
This incident is apparently recent and includes someone that is a friend of his parents and they still have contact with. I don’t know the full story, but I know the once outgoing child who was fine running around in swim trunks, now requires a full body suit to swim and doesn’t like even hugs.
Obviously I don’t know the whole story, but with being a mandated reporter I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place. I want to protect my nephew, but I don’t want to put my brother in a bad spot if nothing happened.
